Discover the Power of

Data-Driven Decisions!

Dive into the world of data analysis and robotics! In this hands-on workshop, students gain a unique experience showing how data is collected, analyzed, and used for smart decision-making, just like in professional applications. Using LEGO® SPIKE Prime, participants build and program models that simulate real-world, data-driven processes used by engineers, scientists, and analysts.

Recommended for:

Middle school (grades 5-6) and early secondary school (grades 1-2)

Class size:

Up to 20 students

Duration:

2.5 hours

What Students Will Build

During the workshop, participants tackle four interconnected challenges combining robotics, sensors, and data analysis:

Uphill Challenge

Build and program a robot that collects data while moving up inclined surfaces and analyze how sensor data changes with terrain.

Aim for It Task

Design a robot that uses sensor data to precisely reach specific positions—demonstrating how data enables feedback and accuracy.

Automate It Puzzle

Create an intelligent robot that collects environmental data and makes autonomous decisions based on sensor inputs and programmed logic.

Bridge Inspection Challenge

Program a robot to inspect a simulated bridge, record key condition data, and identify potential issues, just like real-world infrastructure monitoring systems.

Learning Objectives

Students discover how robotics and data analysis can solve real-world problems:

Accurate data collection for better decision-making

Pattern and trend recognition for enhanced problem-solving

Predictive thinking for maintenance and safety

Evidence-based solutions for complex technical challenges
